The Modified Civic Build Part VI: The Finale

pbskids Staff
Feb 22, 2018

Over the last few issues, we've given you a glimpse at the modifications made to our 10th-generation Civic Sport hatchback. And though the changes have been mild due to time constraints and a general lack of aftermarket options for this new model so early on, we couldn't be happier with the result. So, what happened to the car?

In the series finale of pbskids's Modified, powered by Honda, a multi-car drag race comprised of only FWD Hondas was held at an airstrip in Florida. The winner—Ricky Silva of CLM Motorsports in his all-wheel-drive converted, turbo K20 5th gen—pulled away from the competition and was awarded with our Civic Sport, free and clear!

Our first stop was World Motorsports for a baseline on its wind tunnel dyno, where the Civic made 168 hp and 169 lb-ft of torque. Hondata then plugged in its C.A.R.B.-legal FlashPro unit, and after Doug McMillan made a few adjustments, it produced 176 hp and 205 lb-ft of torque.

  |   Modified Civic Build AEM Cold Air Intake

GReddy Performance Products prototyped a new 3-inch exhaust system and installed its intercooler and piping upgrade. We also added an AEM cold-air intake and headed back to the dyno, where the 10th gen registered 212 hp and 230 lb-ft this time.

  |   Modified Civic Build Eibach PRO STREET S Coilover
  |   Modified Civic Build Gramlights 57Cr

Eibach Springs developed a prototype PRO-STREET-S coilover kit for our hatch, plus added SPC adjustable rear upper control arms. With the new ride height dialed in, we threw on a set of 18x9.5" +38 Gram Lights 57CR Gun Blue II finish wrapped in 245/40R18 Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. The final touch was Muteki SR35 lug nuts.

  |   Modified Civic Build HFP Tailgate Spoiler

  |   Modified Civic Build HFP Cross Drilled Rotor

Honda's HFP division stepped in to add its more aggressive tailgate spoiler, red accented cross-drilled rotors, floor mats, and sport pedals.
