You may see this Raptor on upcoming seasons of Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers, a documentary series that follows the adventures of tornado researchers Reed Timmer and Chris Chittick from TornadoVideos.net
Chosen for its ability to traverse the roughest off-road terrain at high speed thanks to its 6.2-liter V8 engine with 411hp and 434 lb-ft of torque, the Raptor offers the speed, agility and towing capacity needed by the Storm Chasers.
To protect the vehicle, it has been coated bumper-to-bumper with Line-X Premium - a protective coating usually applied to pickup truck beds that resists impact and abrasion.
With the Storm Chasers traveling over 50,000 miles a season to document tornados in close-up, the Line-X coated Ford Raptor is protected from the harshest elements by the coating.
The program's Dominator chase vehicle was also covered by Line-X XS-650 protective weather coating. With storms creating winds up to 200mph, the coating defends against the extreme weather and is able to greatly minimizes dents, scratches and impact damage from flying debris.
Both the Raptor and Dominator were displayed at SEMA 2011 in the Line-X booth. Reed Timmer and Chris Chittick were also on hand, talking about the vehicles, signing autographs and posing for photos.
Naturally, all parties were delighted to discover that the Storm Chasers' Raptor was judged to be the 'Hottest Truck' at the event.
