Forrest Wang's Silvia & Supra - Spirit of the Streets

Checking out the S15 and JZA80 drifting aces from Las Vegas's Get Nuts Lab

Ed. note: Spirit of the Streets was the debut of the new livery on the Get Nuts Laboratory Vapetasia S15 Silvia, a fact that completely escaped us when this text was put together – our bad!

Over the weekend of March 24th and 25th, we sent trusted lens-man David Karey to Las Vegas, Nevada, to round up a gallery of pics from Spirit of the Streets, a grassroots drift event at the motor speedway presented by Vitour Tires and hosted by pro-am sanctioning body Vegas Drift. The two-day affair featured a replica of the Sportsland Tamada Circuit in Japan and emphasized style, with all participating cars required to be complete—meaning no missing panel, and no missile cars, just the kind of track day you would expect to see pro driver Forrest Wang at.

Long admired for his style—both in how he builds his cars and his driving—Wang announced not long ago he'd be making a comeback to the Formula DRIFT pro championship after taking a year off. He brings with him his 2JZ-GTE inline-6-powered S15 Silvia, a vision in emerald that makes us swoon every time we lay eyes on it. The car was at Spirit of the Streets, along with a new project for Wang's shop, Get Nuts Laboratory, a Mk4 Supra.

The Toyota power plant in the Nissan S chassis is a masterpiece, festooned in racing-grade bolt-ons like the Garrett turbocharger, Brian Crower adjustable cam gear on the exhaust side, and Haltech ignition coils. She's set up on BC Racing coilovers and Speed Star Vienna wheels shod in Achilles Radial rubber, with a Wisefab lock kit facilitating massive steering angle. Highlights of the interior include NRG Innovations' seats and harnesses and AiM MXL digital dash, while our favorite part of the exterior has to be the tastefully huge Big Country Labs rear wing.

The gallery includes lots of S15 and a few images of Wang's JZA80 as well, though we couldn't glean much info from the limited amount of photos we had. Still, it was great to see both ripping it up at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway—enjoy our spotlight pics of the vehicles in their natural environment. And be on the lookout for more coverage from Spirit of the Streets—Sportsland Tamada!
