At the end of each year, you're unceremoniously inundated with thoughts and images from Las Vegas as automotive journalists, bloggers, and ... dudes that just have a way of getting into places they have no business being in, converge on the biggest aftermarket show on earth, SEMA. However, for the import performance crowd, it's the beginning of each year that tends to raise the most eyebrows, as the Tokyo Auto Salon, based at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex, houses several high-end tuners, familiar aftermarket names, and some off-the-wall, wacky stuff that almost always leaves you scratching your head.
Much like our most recent SEMA trip, we were able to get through the doors before the event officially opened to grab some images, all thanks to our lens-man in Japan, David Ishikawa. Here's a little sample of what to expect from the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon!

Another favorite that got plenty of attention last year is R31 House. This aggressive white and black demo vehicle is just one of the reasons we've been counting down the days until this event.
Not surprisingly, we already spotted a few LC 500s on hand at this year's show.
Last minute prep on this ... car? Hopefully we'll get more details this week.
You probably expected to see a lot of widebody cars at TAS, and that's been a safe bet for the past few years and foreseeable future it seems.
